A Fried Food Celebration at Athens Grease Festival

One of North Alabama's best festivals returns October 19!

The streets of downtown Athens will soon be packed with togas, fried food, football and music as the annual Athens Grease Festival returns to the square on Saturday, October 19th. We all know fried food can be a Southerner’s Achilles heel, but you can eat healthy the other 364 days of the year, right? Grab a bed sheet, celebrate Athens’ Greek origins and pack the streets as some of the best local restaurants try their hand at frying up everything from okra and fish to Twinkies and Snicker bars.

Worried about missing your favorite SEC team play? Grease Fest has you covered with a fan zone complete with two giant screens so you won’t miss a second of the action. Looking for something for the little ones? Don’t worry, they have children’s activities set up as well. And with top-notch bands playing all day long and quirky contests to round out the entertainment, this is sure to be a day full of fun you don’t want to miss.

The festival kicks off at 11am. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance here.
