Beautiful: The Carole King Musical debuted on Broadway in 2014. It tells the story of Carole King, the amazing woman who has written over 100 pop chart hits and has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Beautiful has won both a Tony and a Grammy, and now the show is coming to Huntsville for the first time.
The Von Braun Center will host Beautiful from Tuesday, March 5th, to Sunday, March 10th.
Critics are comparing this show favorably to other bio-musicals, like Jersey Boys and Motown, that have become huge hits in recent years.
The show opens with Carole King making her debut performing at Carnegie Hall. It then flashes back to Carole as a 16-year-old girl growing up in Brooklyn and aspiring to be a professional singer and song-writer. We follow Carole through love, heartbreaks, career setbacks, and success as she struggles to make it in an industry almost entirely dominated by men in the ‘50s and ‘60s.
Along the way we are treated to hit after hit she wrote for other artists as well as the songs she made famous herself, like
“Will You Love Me Tomorrow”,
“I Feel the Earth Move”,
and “One Fine Day.”
NBC New York called the show, “A Must-See! It’s a rich thrill to see Beautiful, whether you’re a King fan or you’re fascinated by the music business.” A military discount is being offered on the ticket price of this show.
