There’s nothing easier than layering a few dry ingredients into a mason jar, tying it off with a decorative ribbon and gifting it to someone you love. Then, whenever they’re ready for some homemade cookies, they can mix it all up and enjoy.

- Make sure your mason jars are cleaned and dried.
- We recommend using the quart-sized (32 ounces) jars.
- Have all of your ingredients measured out, this makes layering them much quicker
- Have something solid to help pack the ingredients in tight, we used the bottom of a glass cup
- Use some cut fabric or ribbon to decorate the jar after
Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Jar
Ingredients for the jar:
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ¾ cups brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
Instructions:
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl.
- Place flour mixture in mason jar. (Tap the jar several times to get the flour mixture to settle to one layer, then pack it down as much as possible.)
- Then begin layering ingredients in the order listed. (Press firmly after each layer)
- Seal the mason jar, add a ribbon (if desired), and attach the recipe.
Ingredients to add in later:
- ¾ cup (1½ sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
To Bake:
- Preheat oven to 375 °F
- Beat softened butter (or margarine), egg and vanilla extract in a large mixer bowl until well blended.
- Add cookie mix from mason jar and mix well, breaking up any clumps.
- Drop by rounded tablespoon onto greased baking sheet (or parchment lined baking sheet).
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes before moving to a cooling rack (or eating!)

M&M Christmas Cookies in a Jar
Ingredients for the jar:
- 1¾ cups all-purpose white flour
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup holiday M&Ms
- ¾ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions

- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ⅔ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ⅔ cup crushed candy cane
Instructions:
- Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a small bowl.

- Then begin layering ingredients in the order listed. (Press firmly after each layer)
