Waitr food delivery app expands to Decatur

Waitr’s success in Huntsville has prompted another expansion – this time to Decatur. The food delivery service debuts this week with the official launch set for Thursday, January 31. The Waitr app lets you order from your favorite Decatur restaurant … then sends a Waitr driver to deliver it to you for a flat fee of $5. The expansion will trigger even more jobs – 100 hires are expected.

Waitr will kick off its debut in Decatur with special free delivery – anytime you use the app through February 10, you can get your food delivered free by using the promo code “DECATUR” at checkout.

Waitr is available in more than 235 cities across the South, including Huntsville and nearby Madison. Waitr also serves Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, Auburn and Dothan. The app’s appeal goes directly to those who don’t want to – or cannot – leave their home or office for their favorite restaurant meal. The flat fee on all orders regardless of order size or the customer’s distance from the restaurant makes Waitr stand out among its competitors.

Dozens of Decatur-area restaurants have already signed with Waitr, including Applebee’s, La Michoacana Bakery, Moe’s Original Bar B Que, Mellow Mushroom, Minnie Lee, Smokey C’s Barbecue & Wings, River Bridge Shell, Tucker’s, The Brick Deli & Tavern, Krystal, Wally World, Chick-fil-A, Riverside Minimart, Marathon Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Subway, Such-N-Such, Great American Cookies, Las Vias Mexican Grill, La Monarca Taqueria, Cheeseburger Bobby’s, Downtown Dawgs, Hibachi Express, Canton House, Casa Santiago Mexican Grill, KaleidoScoops, Ard’s Seafood Market, and Firehouse Subs.

“With more restaurant deliveries going through Waitr every month, it was an ideal time to add even more service to the surrounding areas,” said Whitney Savoie, Market Development Director for Waitr. “From Huntsville to Madison and now Decatur, Waitr is here for everyone.”

In addition to its popular $5 flat delivery fee, Waitr is seen as a leader in on-demand food ordering and delivery due to its live monitoring that keeps customers updated on food arrival times, door-to-door service, and full-color photography of all menu items.

To celebrate its Decatur-area debut, Waitr will be hosting a launch party at The Brick Deli & Tavern on Thursday, January 31 at 5:00pm. The Brick Deli & Tavern is located at 112 East Moulton Street in Decatur. Waitr is encouraging everyone to come out and be part of the city’s launch and meet the local team. Attendees at the free party can expect tasty appetizers, cold drinks and cool “swag” items to take home with them.

Waitr is exceptionally simple to use. After creating an account, you choose a restaurant, browse the fully-customizable menu, select your items and tap to submit the order with a credit card. The app can also be used for carryout orders. There is no charge to consumers for placing these orders. In addition, ordering is also available via the Web at waitrapp.com.
